Enjin joined forces with Entropia Universe to create a unique collection of utility NFTs for the NFT.io marketplace.
The limited edition "Eggs of Entropia" series was launched with a soft rollout of NFT.io earlier this year, bringing an exciting new dimension to the world of non-fungible tokens.
Entropia Universe was a truly pioneering sci-fi MMO game. Not only was it free-to-play and supported by micro transactions before other games thought it was possible, it also opened up its economy to player ownership in a way that allowed players to start their own businesses within the universe.
Enjin was joined by David Simmonds and Shaun Klein this week to explain the initiative.
The Eggs of Entropia NFTs were designed to mark the special collaboration between Enjin and Entropia Universe, a space-faring MMORPG.
Each of the five Eggs represented real planets within the Entropia Universe, which players populated and built economies within.
These mini-businesses existed as part of the broader Entropia Universe.
The most unique aspect of the Eggs of Entropia was their utility: the owners of these Eggs had the opportunity to receive affiliate rewards by driving new users to the Entropia signup portal using their unique affiliate link.
Affiliate rewards were distributed as Entropia's in-game currency, PED, once a user's in-game avatar was connected to their NFT wallet.
Throughout early August, the auctions for these five Egg NFTs were staggered, creating a sense of excitement among potential buyers.
The initial bidding started at 1 WETH (Wrapped ETH), and eager collectors kept a close eye on Enjin's social media channels for updates on each new auction.
After all the Eggs were auctioned off, the only way to acquire one was by buying it from an owner, adding an extra layer of rarity to these exclusive NFTs.
According to Entropia Universe, upon blockchain integration and conversion to the Unreal Engine, the Eggs were set to hatch into unique companions within the Entropia Universe.
Additionally, affiliate reward payouts would be automated through the Ethereum network. The first two Eggs auctioned off represented Arkadia and Toulan, followed by Next Island and Cyrene, with the final auction dedicated to Calypso.
