Unity and Unreal SDKs Are on the Way!

With Version 2 of Enjin's developer tools now ready, we also have some game engine-specific SDKs lined up for Unity and Unreal.

Making it easier for developers to add NFTs to their project is what Enjin does, and we’re about to make it a whole lot easier.

We’ve been building up to the release of our Open Platform - essentially Version 2 of the Enjin developer tools - which won’t require any approval or authentication to use.

You can already read the docs for these, and now we’ve got a timeline for you for release dates on our upcoming SDKs – including new SDKs for the most popular game engines, Unity and Unreal.

These SDKs provide classes and services to aid developers in communicating with the Enjin Platform through its V.2 API, and receive cloud events as well as some other utility features. Later on, we hope to see the return of plugins that allow developers to add NFTs to their projects with just a couple of clicks.

We’ll be bringing out these SDKs over the next two months, starting with the main release on July 18th.

This will carry the Java, C#, C++, and Unity SDKs. Unity has been one of the most popular engines for indie developers in the last decade and we’re delighted to support it again.

On August 15th we’ll also bring out the Unreal Engine SDK, which is an exciting first, as support for UE has thus far been a community-led effort.

Use of the Unreal Engine has increased massively in the games industry in the last few years, and we’re thrilled that UE devs will now have an easy option to include Enjin NFTs in their games.

For those who want to get familiar with the documentation beforehand, you can have a peek at the new documentation that currently exists, which isn’t exactly the same but close. Naturally, for Unity devs your closest bet will be the C# docs, and the Unreal devs you’ll be looking at the C++ docs.

Those should give you some idea of what to expect in the coming game engine-specific SDKs, so feel free to wet your whistle, get some ideas, and brush up on the specifics later.

Rejoice, Unity and Unreal developers! We hope you’ll hop into the SDKs early and let us know of any issues that pop up, or anything else you think we should know.

Here’s to making NFTs easy!
