In October 2020, BMW made an exciting announcement: it would integrate blockchain-based rewards into its new member's app, BMW Vantage, available on Google Play and iOS.
The innovative move aimed to offer BMW customers a unique and authentic way to receive and utilize rewards.
The rewards, named BMW Coin, was designed as a new form of on-chain token that members received by purchasing a BMW, downloading the app, referring new users, and making purchases through the app. Users could also earn BMW Points through games.
The rewards could be used for discounts on vehicle maintenance, ordering airport pickup services, purchasing new vehicles, or receiving gifts and vouchers.
Korea was chosen as the first launch country, with plans for a global rollout to follow.
The BMW Vantage membership service was open to both new and existing customers. The first 1,000 registrants received 30,000 coins via the app as an incentive.
With BMW embracing blockchain technology for its rewards program, the company has demonstrated its commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation, providing customers with enhanced value, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the automotive industry.
